My Finished TV AD Evaluaion

Brief.

Our brief was to re-brand a Unilever product to a new audience. Unilever is known to own many food and drink products as well as many household items.I worked along side Sam Cattee and Steve Abbs to re-brand our chosen product which was Marmite.
The reason we chose Marmite is because as a group, we pitched our idea's together and all settled on Sam Cattee's idea for re-branding Marmite because it caught our eye and stood out the most too me and Steve. As we planned the advert we all had a small input of idea's to improve on the original plan of the re-branding.
The main audience for Marmite originally targeted Families and mothers who wanted something healthy for there children's food. As we are re-branding we decided to target a new audience, we chose teenagers because we think that they do not like it as much and would like to appeal to them more.

Feedback and Final Product.

We had collected feedback from two sources, one of them being in our class and the other using a social media website. Unfortunately I had nobody take mine so I had no results from an online source so I used a group member's results that were pretty fair on us.

So after we had our results we had checked what was wrong with the advert and we had our responses but as most of our target audience does not like Marmite.

Yes I think we hit our target audience very well because we had posted our advert on Facebook to see what our friends thought of it and they liked it ! Meaning as we are teenagers and our friends are teenagers , it seems we hit our target audience.

The adverts camera work was quite good and looked perfectly timed to go with the actions . The mise en scene was a forest because we were setting it in a horror sort of advert . The music fit with the mise-en-scene because it was quick , fast and made you think what was going to happen.

In my opinion I thought that the story line didn't really make sense but it would if we had added a few more scenes to explain more of the story to the watcher.

We use a female who seems to be being chased by a monster which is a chiché in most horror situations but we used it because we thought it would fit greatly.

The message we were trying to send is that anyone of any age can love marmite, but do you ? Would you travel through a forest filled with love , hate and weirdness just to get some marmite, Steve surely would !.

We checked the comments that people left and the problem that we all knew is what they commented on. It was the sounds as the male character says "I love you" We know its windy and we should have used a boom mic to record him saying it when we were outside.

In the end we had asked our audience weather or not the advert made them want to buy marmite but in fact the votes tied on yes and no but the most votes went to. "I don't like marmite" Which has said to us that most teenagers do not like marmite and that we have chosen the wrong audience to advertise to.

Self evaluation
I am very satisfied with our final product as it looks good and the theme is set right. If I were to take that task again I would use sound mic's for recording sound outside and I would also put in a few more running scenes.

  1. Sam,

This has some nice reflection in but is far too brief - it is not developed enough to meet grading criteria. If you are ever struggling you need to attend SET and ask for help.

Have another go after looking at the evaluation guidance and then ask Sean or I for help so we can make this better.
